I’ve received a lot of concerned emails lately. I guess it didn’t occur to me that not everyone reads the comments section… and not everyone knows where else to find me.

So no — I haven’t jumped off a bridge.

My computer melted down. Actually, I melted down and then the computer melted down. But all is well now. I just haven’t felt like writing. And when I don’t feel like writing — or blogging about writing — I know better than to bother, because everything I write turns out like garbage. So I’ve been conserving my energy for clients and for more creative projects — ones I actually feel inspired to deal with. Unfortunately right now, this blog isn’t one of them, as much as I adore all my writing/blogging friends.

But for those of you who are concerned about me… don’t be. I’m fine. I am still online, still around… just not making all of my usual blog-stalking rounds, and not posting here. I’ve tried to respond to all the concerned emails, but I have a few thousand unread messages in my inbox that say stuff like “can you help me learn how to…” and “I thought you might like to know that…” I’m not up for dealing with those yet.

Be well, friends. I do miss you. I just don’t have anything worthwhile to say about writing at the moment.

    Amy,

It’s all right, the webby world will not fall apart while you re-energize; it’ll just be quiet and dull. :)

Contrary to popular belief, feeding this beast is NOT a requirement.

Just think of all the wit you’ll have saved up to unleash on us!

(Re: the inbox. Maybe hit delete all? Heresy, I know, but important ones *will* write back.)

    Thinking of you,

    Kelly

Michele - Sorry to hear you can relate. :-( I hope things get better for you soon…

Mike - Thanks for understanding, friend.

Ross - Duck suit? Now you have me worried… ;-)

Kelly - Re the inbox, I’ve done that in the past. (Well, with Gmail, it’s called “archiving”…) May be time for another round… I don’t think of beast-feeding (hehe) as a requirement either. Unfortunately, some of my blog-stalkers don’t see eye to eye on that one. But it’s all good. Nice to gain other perspectives, right? :-)

Amy, I can understand your confusion at the ‘duck suit’ post title. But click on my link and you’ll see that it has nothing to do with copywriting…or ducks for that matter. :)

    Amy,

When you just need some air, no. F— other perspectives sometimes.

I fed the beast last week-ish, with a post called What If That’s All You Have to Say. You are not the only friend I know feeling just bullied by your business (I have offline friends more committed to what their customers would think if they admitted they were sick of it, than to their own mental health. BAD).

Hey, how come I have no stalkers? Where do I get me some o’ that?

Not snarky enough, I guess. ;)

    Peaceful hippie thoughts to you,

    Kelly

Kel - I stalk you. When I am up for it. ;-) Oh and mental health over corporate death? I am all for it. That is why I quit my “real job” ya see… Sometimes I still have to remind myself of that. :-)

    Amy,

No matter what Kelly says… Please, no deleting the clematis pics.

  10. Amy on April 20th, 2008 12:04 pm

Mer - No worries. I don’t delete you, or your pics. :-)

  11. Mer on April 20th, 2008 2:43 pm

This is a good thing. ‘Cause I’ve been stalkin’ pretties for you to look at, and bravin’ bugs to do it. ;)

    Mer

  12. Amy on April 20th, 2008 2:52 pm

They’re very pretty. Thank you. Although braving bugs is never necessary for my benefit. :-)

    :D

Actually, I’m of a sort who likes to look at beautiful to rest from crises, meltdowns, and whatnot. I find it calming. Hope you do, too.

Ah, thanks for your concern, Amy. I hope things get better for you too (soon!). If you need a cyber ear, you can e-mail me ya know.

    Take care….

    Hey,

I’m a recent addition to the blogosphere and I stumbled upon your blog just before all the madness happened. I’ve been not posting sympathy since you seemed kind of ill-equipped to deal with random strangers, but I just wanted to say two things:

    You are awesome.

Your happiness is more important than your blog’s timeliness.

Take care of yourself. I’ll be very excited when you return, but you’re doing exactly what you should be doing. At least, that’s what my therapist tells me. And she’s imaginary, so she’s always right.

Michele - Same goes to you, friend. :-)

Tei - Love your name, btw. Where does one sign up for an imaginary therapist? I have several real ones, but I can always use extra…

Wendi - All is well. No worries. You enjoy the weather too. It’s great, isn’t it?

  18. Amy on April 22nd, 2008 9:27 am

Mer - I can’t remember whether I responded to your last email with the pictures, but in case I didn’t, thanks. Now stop standing in the yard with the bugs. LOL

    We miss you too, Amy.

I’ve had the opposite problem the last week or two. I’ve got way too damn much client work to do, haven’t got nearly enough time to comment on and read my favorite blogs.

At any rate, look forward to your return.

    Also, nice tree :)
