What This Freelance Writer Is Grateful For

by Amy Derby on November 21, 2007

I don’t like the Thanksgiving holiday. I don’t even like turkey. But I do like any excuse to reflect on what I’m grateful for. Of course, these are things I’m grateful for year round, but now seems like a good time to make a list. I could have included “No smallpox infested blankets” but that didn’t seem very freelance writing related.

  1. I have more than enough work to keep me busy and financially stable.
  2. I work for really nice people, for the most part.
  3. I enjoy what I do.
  4. As of this year, I officially make more money freelancing than I did as a paralegal.
  5. I can work from my bed and wear comfy clothes.
  6. I don’t have to endure a one-hour train commute seated alongside stinky, sneezing people anymore.
  7. I no longer waste half my pay check on ‘business casual’ clothing or expensive downtown meals.
  8. I no longer have to deal with office politics or gossip.
  9. Every day is Bring My Bunny To Work Day.
  10. I have met some very nice people through this blog, and I am grateful for all of you who visit here to read my posts.

What are you grateful for?
